David Hartley
David Hartley is a fiction writer and spoken word performer from Manchester. He is currently studying for a PhD in Creative Writing at the University of Manchester under the supervision of Geoffrey Ryman, where he is researching representations of neurodiversity in science fiction while writing a contemporary fantasy novel about autism and ghosts. His fiction has appeared in many lovely places including Ambit Magazine, Black Static, Structo Magazine and The Shadow Booth. He can often be found performing his writing with excessive theatricality at various spoken word events of the North West and has performed at Kendal Calling Music Festival, the Manchester Literature Festival, and at an apocalyptic arts event in Preston Bus Station to a crowd of confused commuters. He tweets at @DHartleyWriter and his latest flash fiction collection Spiderseed is available to purchase at the Blackwell Bookshop stall.
Hartley will be taking part in The Centre for New Writing’s panel discussion The Future of the Book
